Our Story
Lilla, originally from the South of Sweden, embodies a deep connection with traditional Scandinavian folk music. Singing in choirs from an early age, music for Lilla has always been about community, friendship and bringing people together. One could hear her voice drifting from a warm, fire-lit cabin on a frigid winters night in the Swedish woods and soothing those inside with her heart-warming soul.
California-born Manoa started singing in his high school choir and playing guitar in college, while he was studying marine science. He was inspired by the music of Dave Matthews Band, John Butler Trio and Xavier Rudd. His deep spiritual connection to music was activated when, in his early twenties, he saw the John Butler Trio play at the Fillmore Theatre in San Francisco. From then he has followed his calling across the seas, inspired by messages of re-connection to nature, personal and cultural transformation, and the magic that music can create. Manoa completed a PhD in Ecopsychology and Environmental Education and he is deeply passionate about how nature connection and music can help with mental health and empower soul expression.
Manoa has shared his music at a range of folk festivals including Splendour In The Grass (2016), Mullum Music Festival (2019), Earth Frequency Festival (2020), and Wallaby Creek Festival (2019). He has supported and played alongside roots artists including Dustin Thomas (USA), Caravana Sun, Oka, Nicky Bomba and Murray Kyle.
Their first single, 'Create The Space', will be released in early 2021 on all major streaming platforms with an accompanying music video premiering on YouTube.

Lilla & Manoa weave heartfelt and soulful folk melodies that entrance and uplifting reggae loops that groove, mixing the magic of the Swedish forest and the California ocean. They create a powerful dynamic and unquestionable presence through their music as audiences are inspired by the positive messages of re-connection to nature, personal growth and transformation.
